Faith communities provide economical healthcare coverage to their members by purchasing group policies from larger providers. Policies can be basic and low-cost or full-coverage and more expensive. How might such programs be introduced within ISKCON? Who is entitled to subscribe to an ISKCON policy? Would state-sponsored healthcare provide a reasonable package? What cooperation and services could doctor-congregants provide?

Health Collaboration with India

There are several different areas of health collaboration that we could seek with the health profession in India (not in any particular order):

1. Preventive health checkups
A complete executive health checkup, including blood work, treadmill test, ultrasound and x-rays, etc. for cancer screening can be obtained for about $100 in any of the major cities. MRI's, and CAT scans, etc. are also very low cost compared to the US

2. Diagnostic work

The principal objective of the Healthcare Team is to provide a healthcare plan for all devotees. We must take care of those who have dedicated their lives to Prabhupada’s mission.

All temple managers have encountered the dilemma of a devotee in need of medical attention, and often left to the mercy of regional health care facilities; reluctant to provide service to the uninsured.

THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES ARE:

1. Establish a health care delivery system. Our primary goal is to develop a health insurance plan accessible to both temple staff and congregation.

2. Develop a web based information system for devotees to access information about available regional resources, to ask health related questions, and to register demographic information.

3. The team will also research alternative modalities in health related fields. We will consult with experts in each field to insure scientific integrity.
